If you are running Windows 7, you can use the built-in diagnostic tool to determine which devices are not sleeping properly when idle.

Click start, type cmd, right click and select “run as administrator”, type “powercfg energy” (without the quotation marks).

This utility will test your system for 60 seconds and determine how efficiently it is running.
