Cisco Unified Video Advantage
- The PC must be plugged into the PC port of the IP phone
- H.263 or H.264 video codec (from 50kbps to 1.5Mbps)
- Cisco Wideband codecs (7Mbps)
- Least amount of resources on PC
- Supports format up to 30 fps
- CIF (352 x 288, 230 x 240)
- QCIF (176 x 144, 160 x 120)
- Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP)
- Discovery between IP phone and PC
- Allow the Video Advantage to learn the dynamic IP of the IP phone
- Cisco Audio Session Tunnel (CAST)
- Association and signaling between IP phone and Cisco Unified Video Advantage software
- Allow Video Advantage to receive event message when we place our call
- Allow Video Advantage to send and receive signaling messages to/from IP phone
- SCCP
- Signaling between IP phone and CUCM
- Video signaling is sent to IP Phone and then proxy back to the PC
- RTP
- Media transport (video to Cisco Unified Video Advantage, audio to phone)
- Audio RTP goes directly between IP phones
- Video RTP goes directly between PC
- The bit rate of the video channels depends on the negotiated audio codec
Configuration
Region Bandwidth
Location Bandwidth
- Under System > Location
- Setting the maximum allowed bandwidth used by video calls for locations
- Audio bandwidth must include Layer 3 overhead
- G.729 = 24kbps
- G.711 = 80kbps
- Video bandwidth does not include overhead
- Recommended to always used multiple of 56kbps or 64kbps in this field
Phones
Verification
- Shows the phone is enabled for video
- It does not indicate that Cisco Unified Video Advantage has been associated with the IP phone
- From within the Cisco Unified Video Advantage software.
- Show association between the camera and the IP phones
Video Advantage
- Connect the PC to the phone PC port
- Install the Cisco Unified Video Advantage software
- Plug in the USB camera
