Media Resource
General
- CUCM selects an audio or video conference bridge from the MRGL of the conference initiator
- When a media resource is involved, there is no direct RTP communication between the two IP phones
- By default, all media resources are placed in the null MRG
- Usage of hardware resource is preferred over software
- Media resource usage is load balanced.

Intelligent Bridge Selection
- New in CUCMv7
- If there is one video participant or no video participants, an audio conference bridge from the MRGL is selected
- If a video conference bridges is need but none is available, an audio conference bridge is allocated.
MRG Selection
- Uses all the resource in MRG_HW_CFB first
- Then uses the resources in MRG_SW_CFB
- If MRGL_CFB is exhausted, look into the Null MRG.
Configuration
- Assuming the media resource is already configured.

- Under Media Resources > Media Resource Group
MRGL
- Under Media Resources > Media Resource Group List
Assign to Device
- Under Device > Phone
